* How can I donate money or goods?

We can accept donations of goods at our store or via pickup (furniture or large items only). Please read our requirements and instructions on how to donate goods.

Drop-offs are accepted at our store until 5pm Monday thru Friday, and until 3pm Saturday.

Pick-ups are every other Saturday, by appointment
Pick-up locations include: Oakdale, Woodbury, South St. Paul, South Washington County, and parts of Hastings.

* What items do you accept for donation?

* How can I volunteer?

We are always in need of volunteers! We are grateful and appreciative of anyone who can provide their help to us in any way. Please contact us at this page to request information about volunteering.

* I need clothing/furniture, can you help me?

We do provide vouchers to individuals and families who cannot afford to purchase clothing, household items, and/or furniture. Referrals for vouchers are made by community and social service organizations.

Please see this page for a list of agencies to contact and request Stone Soup vouchers.

* If you are an agency or worker with clients in need, contact us before referring clients.

* How can I be sure the money I donate is going back to my community?

Basic Needs, Inc./Stone Soup Thrift Shop has been reviewed by an organization that screens non-profits like ours to ensure that we meet high standards of charitable giving, trustworthiness, responsbility and accountability at all times. You can learn more and read the review we were given the Charities Review Council of Minnesota. If you have any questions, concerns feel free to contact us, and we will be glad to address them.

You may also wish to view our IRS 990 for 2006. The last page gives a breakdown of how the money was spent giving back to the community.

* Can you help me fulfill my community service hours?

We do offer opportunties for all individuals to help fulfill community service hours for any reason whether court-ordered or for an organization they belong to.

Please contact us to to request more information. The court or Youth Service Bureau may refer you to us or you can ask them about how you can work with Stone Soup.

* Can I donate my dishwasher, console TV, or bed mattress?

Sorry, though we appreciate your offer, we cannot accept those items. Here is a list of items we can accept and items we cannot accept.
