Work readiness
Helping people strengthen work and life skills
By working with the Local State Workforce Center, we help to educate and prepare individuals for the world of work and eventual self-sufficiency. Stone Soup is a place where individuals learn and renew their education and work skills, with the goal of future employment.
Helping seniors & special needs adults in the world of work
We also help seniors and individuals with various limitations, who have
been out of the marketplace. They are encouraged, feel useful, gain
skills that can be placed on a resume, and eventually secure
employment.
In 2008...
During 2008, 7 individuals participated in work experience activity and preparation for future employment. They came to us from the Workforce Work Experience in Washington County, and the Senior Workers program.
Beginning in 2009…
Stone Soup began working with School District 833’s Next Step Transition Program. This is a program for students ages 18-21. Young adults and their families are assisted in transitioning to their lives beyond high school. Transition programs are for students who have completed the academics of high school but need additional education to develop functional skills that will enhance an independent lifestyle. They have continuing special education needs in the functional skills area. The purpose of all transition programs is to transition a student to the next level of training/education, not through it.
